Earth Day-2026
The Earth Day Celebration 2026, organized by the Dr. Chandrasekhar Foundation (R) in association with the Cauvery College of Engineering (CCE), Mysuru, under the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), an initiative of the Ministry of Education (AICTE), was conducted on 22 April 2026 at 10:30 AM in the Seminar Hall, First Floor, Old Block. The event, centered on the theme “Our Power, Our Planet,” aimed to create awareness about environmental sustainability, educate students on the origin and evolution of Earth, highlight the impact of human activities on ecosystems, and promote responsible environmental practices such as reuse, recycling, and waste reduction, while encouraging innovative thinking toward ecological conservation.
The program was graced by Chief Guest Prof. B. Basavalingu, Former Professor, Department of Earth Science, University of Mysore, and was presided over by Prof. S. Srikantaswamy, Dean, in the presence of patrons Dr. Sarala Chandrashekar and Dr. G. R. Chandrashekar. The session provided a comprehensive overview of key scientific and environmental topics, including the formation of Earth from molten matter, the development of oceans through condensation processes, and the origin of life leading to biodiversity. It also addressed critical environmental issues such as oil spills and their adverse effects on marine ecosystems, along with a scientific explanation of diamond synthesis linked to Earth’s internal conditions of high pressure and temperature. The speaker emphasized the detrimental effects of human greed, overconsumption, industrialization, and pollution on the environment.
The event conveyed important messages on the collective responsibility of safeguarding ecosystems, the necessity of preserving nature for future generations, and the urgent need to reduce environmental damage. Participants were encouraged to adopt sustainable practices such as reuse, recycling, and waste reduction. The program witnessed the participation of 60 attendees, including BE first-year students, engineering faculty, and CGOI staff. The event was coordinated by Dr. Chethan Raj C, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
Overall, the Earth Day Celebration successfully achieved its objectives by enhancing awareness of environmental issues, improving understanding of Earth’s ecological balance, and motivating participants to adopt sustainable lifestyles and contribute toward environmental conservation. The program concluded with a strong message that protecting the Earth is not an option but a necessity, requiring collective and continuous efforts for a sustainable future.
